Philipp Strodtkötter, born in 1988 in Solingen-Ohligs, North Rhine-Westphalia, has been on a fascinating artistic journey. His path led him from his origins in Bavaria and Spain to the
north of Germany, where he now lives with his family and is passionately dedicated to art. His childhood in the scenic town of Murnau in Bavaria, which inspired artists such as Gabriele Münter and Wassily Kandinsky, as well as the artistry of his aunt and grandfather, awakened a deep love of painting in him from an early age. After studying design at the U5 in Munich, where he was taught by renowned artists from various disciplines, Strodtkötter moved to Spain. There, in 2016, he began to work intensively with acrylic paints on canvas. Philipp Strodtkötter draws inspiration from his surroundings and combines realism with abstract elements in his works. He strives to capture portraits in different styles and
constantly reinvent himself in the process. In his paintings, he combines vibrant and muted colors in a unique way. The structure of his brushstrokes and splashes of color suggest organic forms or figures that fit harmoniously into the overall picture. This synthesis of realism and abstraction gives his art an unmistakable and fascinating expressiveness. Through his art, Strodtkötter aims to tell emotional stories and invite viewers to explore the depth of his creative vision. Each of his works is a journey through the complexity of human emotion, captured in color and form. His works have been exhibited in various galleries worldwide, attracting art lovers and collectors who appreciate the unique combination of realism and abstraction in contemporary painting.
By continually developing his style and exploring new techniques, Philipp Strodtkötter remains a dynamic artist whose works will always push the boundaries of traditional portraiture.‘Humans are by nature social beings who need the closeness and support of others in order to feel safe and secure. These interpersonal relationships give us stability, enable us to move forward, challenge us and bring joy into our lives. In my eyes, art is a reflection of these human connections. It should give us a sense of comfort and at the same time stir up our deepest emotions.
With my paintings, I strive to create a deep emotional bond with the viewer. It is my goal to evoke a resonance in the viewer’s heart through my art that touches and moves them, no matter in what form those emotions may be expressed.’ – Philipp Strodtkötter
