Piotr Horodyński frequently explores the concept of freedom in his artwork, recognizing it as a fundamental concern for all individuals and creatures alike. The artist prefers not to delve into technical details about his pieces. Instead, he prioritizes the narrative embedded within the painting and the emotional response it elicits from viewers, along with the introspection it inspires.

“Freedom is like air we breathe— we do not see it, we do not think of it, until its scarcity is felt, prompting a deep appreciation for its indispensable role in our lives. Freedom encompasses every facet of our existence and humanity, extending beyond the physical realm usually associated with history, politics, law, the Constitution, to encompass our lifestyle, choices and personal integrity. Freedom is the courage to live in harmony with ourselves, with our views and ideals. It is the courage to take risks, to pursue dreams, to seek happiness and fulfilment. It is walking a path that others avoid. It is doing things that others do not believe in or fear. Artistic expression hinges on this sense of freedom and bravery, necessitating a departure from conventional boundaries. This means breaking limitations. constantly pushing boundaries and looking beyond the horizon. I wish everyone that kind of freedom, even if at some point it entails facing disapproval or lack of recognition.”

Piotr Horodyński’s painting “Freedom” transports us into the world of fantasy, imagination. It treats the main theme symbolically. Once again, flight, soaring, rising above standards, above ordinariness and everyday life, are symbols of freedom. It serves as a reminder to nurture our dreams, to not be afraid of them. Even if they seem impossible—they are the essence of our lives
And it is a message worth conveying to our lives. Life devoid of freedom and dreams is fraught with challenges.
